Enquiry Approach

Throughout the Humanities at Cramlington Learning Village we use an Enquiry approach in our studies which helps to put pupils at the centre of learning.  There are number of ways in which pupis and staff employ an Enquiry approach - and these are designed in to our learning experiences.

Short, directed Enquiries.  These enquiries may take place over one or two lessons where the teacher has a clear set of outcomes in mind at the start of the enquiry.


Open ended, negotiatied enquiries:  These rely on good quality, fertile questions which allow exploration and enable learners to branch off into areas they have a real interest in.  The methods used, time and results can be negotiated as well as learners and teachers negotiating what will be assessed and how this process will be carried out.
